What I Do
Debbie Clapper graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Masters of Social Work. She received her Bachelor Degree from the University of Illinois Springfield. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and holds a Type 73/Professional Educator’s License (PEL).
Debbie has over 25+ years of experience working in Illinois Public Schools as a school social worker. She has worked with all grade levels and diverse populations. She has experience supporting children and families with various complex issues, such as extreme poverty, homelessness, extensive traumas, as well as social – emotional and behavioral learning needs.
In addition to her role as a school social worker, Debbie served as the district’s crisis management coordinator for many years. Her love and commitment to the profession brought her back to the UIUC SSW Field Office where she works as a field liaison and clinical assistant professor to students who share the same interest and desire to be a school social worker.
